ALARM REGISTRATION

Residential Burglar Alarm Systems must be registered with the City of Hill Country Village.


PERMITS

The City has adopted the Uniform Building Codes and a Zoning Ordinance. Permits are required for all modifications, building additions, alterations, accessory buildings, electrical, and plumbing work before work begins. Coordination and review of the project with the City is highly recommended before any work begins to ensure compliance with zoning regulations.


OAK TREE TRIMMING

Wounds to oak trees from trimming, cutting and breaking shall be painted within one hour of the wound with asphaltic, exterior oil or latex base paint.  Trimming, cutting, removal and installation of oak trees by commercial tree trimmers, tree services and landscape contractors requires a permit obtained from City Hall.


GARAGE SALES

A permit obtained from City Hall is required to have a garage sale within the city limits. Only one garage sale sign is authorized in front yard of the residence only. Size of the sign will be 4 feet square inch.  You are allowed 2 sales per year.  No food items or beverages can be sold.

Pickup is scheduled Wednesdays and Saturdays


RECYCLING

When               Wednesday of weeks with no holiday

Where             Curbside if you have front garbage pickup.  Magazines can be dropped off in the dumpster in front of City Hall.

What               Newspapers and inserts, RINSED glass bottles, jars, aluminum and tin cans and plastics including milk cartons and bottles.  Our recycler does not take Styrofoam, cardboard or plastic bags.

How                 Use container of your choice.  Plastic bags may be used.  Please separate newspapers from other items.  Recycling bin may be purchased at local home improvement stores. 

BRUSH

Place at curb in front of property for pickup the last Saturday of the month. Limbs may be no longer than 6 feet. You are allowed no more than what would normally fit in a normal size pick-up truck bed. Brush will be picked up on the last Saturday of the month.  City Ordinance prohibits burning accumulated trash and brush.

DEAD ANIMALS

Dead animals will be picked up by Waste Management. The animal must be placed on the right-of-way by the  homeowner.  Neither the city staff nor the waste company personnel will enter your property to remove the animals.


ANIMAL REGISTRATION

Animal Control is governed largely by the City's Animal Control Ordinance which prohibits animals from running at-large.  The City also has a "Dangerous Dog" ordinance which prohibits a dog from attacking another animal or person.   Any violations of these ordinances may constitute a fine payable by the owner.  Should you require Animal Control Services during business hours, contact City Hall at 494-3671.  After hours, contact the Police Dispatch at 335-6000.

All pets must be registered yearly with the City of Hill Country Village.  Any domestic animal must have current vaccinations. The City allows for a reasonable amount of domestic animals on your property. The city does not allow exotic animals.  No animal shall be bread or boarded for commercial gain within the corporate city limits of Hill Country Village.      

Animals must be restrained by a leash, chain, cord, rope when off the property.  If a dog is found running at large it will be impounded and the owner may be cited for this violation.  A fee assessed for impounding an animal.

New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Battle of Flowers, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve.


MUNICIPAL COURT

In general, Municipal Court meets third Thursday of each month (Class C Misdemeanors only).


FIREWORKS, FIREARMS, AND OTHER PROJECTILE-PRODUCING DEVICES

Fireworks/discharge of firearms are prohibited within the City Limits.  This includes pellet, BB guns, slingshots, wrist rockets, blowguns, and bow and arrows.


POACHING

The taking of deer and other wildlife inside city limits is prohibited by ordinance.  A reward of up to $2,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone caught attempting to harvest wildlife in the City Limits.  Contact City Hall for details.


TREES AND SHRUBBERY AND ROADS

Trees and shrubbery must not interfere with pedestrian or vehicular traffic on streets or Cavalry Trail. 

The cutting of new streets (less than 10 years old) is prohibited.   All repairs to street cuts on other streets must be guaranteed for the life of the street and requires a Right of Way work permit.  Contact City Hall for information.


PARKING

All parking in the street (along Crest Trail or Cabin Path) or on the right of way (all other streets) must be in the direction of traffic flow. Parking the wrong direction is a violation of state law, which is aggressively enforced by the Hill Country Village Police Department. City ordinance #728 prohibits any parking on Paso Del Norte.

Contact the Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector's Motor Vehicle Registration 335-6627.  The closest office is the Northside sub-station is located in Salado Creek Business Park, 3370 Nacogdoches Road.

Agendas are posted 72 hours prior to meeting at City Hall, 116 Aspen Lane.  These are posted on the bulletin board on the porch of City Hall and may be viewed 24 hours a day. Meetings, except for executive session, are open to the public.  Agendas and approved minutes may be viewed as well on this web site.

City Council – Generally, the Council meets third Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Board of Adjustment – As needed

Planning and Zoning Commission – As needed. These notices are posted 10 days in advance. 


ELECTIONS

Voter Registration (Bexar County Tax Assessor/Collector) Precincts 3005, 3091, 3123, 3143 are located in the City of Hill Country Village. The office can be reached by phone at 335-6625.

Mayor and City Council members are elected for two (2) year terms.  City elections are conducted the first Saturday in May of the election year.


HEALTH

Property owners are responsible for maintaining the street right-of-way in front of their property. 

Burning of accumulated garbage, trash and brush is prohibited.

Grass and weeds must not exceed a height of 9 inches for residential and 18 inches for Commercial.

Septic systems are inspected by the City's Health Inspector. 


LAWN WATERING

Year-round water conservation is encouraged by the City Council and Bexar Metropolitan Water District.  Watering with sprinklers is not permitted between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. as per Ordinance #561.  Watering with a hand-held hose with a shut-off nozzle, 5 gallon bucket, or using a drip-irrigation system is permitted at any time.

Printed and mailed every other month.  The document is a joint effort of the Home Owner's Association and City Hall.
